Daniel Kopp receives Best Paper Award of the International Commission for Optics

Daniel Kopp, a doctoral student at the Gisela and Erwin Sick Chair of Micro-optics, has received the Best Student Paper award at the 24th Congress of the International Commission for Optics held in Tokyo. This international conference is held only once every three years, and the 2017 event was honored by the attendance of the Japanese emperor.
Mr. Kopp’s prizewinning paper, entitled “Optofluidic zoom system with enhanced zoom factor” was co-authored by IMTEK MSc student Tamara Brender and presented the world’s first fully fluidic optical zoom system.
