The Symposium "Silicon & Silicon Nanostructures: From Recent Fundamental Research to Novel Applications" will take place from 22.-26.05.2017, featuring 20 invited speakers, 53 contributed talks and more than 50 posters.
Silicon nanostructures in all dimensionalities are investigated by researchers working in both fundamental science (nanophysics, nanotechnology) and microelectronic engineering (future CMOS technologies, sensors, photovoltaics, etc.).
Dr. Andreas Menzel (Department of Microsystems Engineering) and Dr. Matthias Sauer (Department of Computer Science) were awarded the Wolfgang-Gentner-Award for Young Researchers 2014 by the President of the University of Freiburg Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Jochen Schiewer during the opening ceremony of the academic year 2014/15.
The Senate of the University of Freiburg has elected two new part-time vice rectors: Gisela Riescher (Faculty of Humanities) will be responsable for academic integrity, equal opprtunity and diversity, Margit Zacharias (Faculty of Engineering, Department of Microsystems Engineering) for technolgy transfer and innovation.
