New Dean at the Faculty of Engineering: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Balle
Prof. Balle, Walter-und-Ingeborg-Herrmann-Chair for Power Ultrasonics and Engineering of Functional Materials (EFM) at the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering (INATECH), takes over the office of Dean from his predecessor Prof. Dr. Roland Zengerle, Laboratory for MEMS Applications at the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK).
The professors, staff and students thank Prof. Dr. Roland Zengerle for his leadership and wish Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Balle all the best for his new task!

One faculty – Three successful departments
The Faculty of Engineering was founded in 1995. By combining the subjects of Computer Science, Embedded Systems Engineering, Microsystems Engineering and Sustainable Systems Engineering on one campus, interdisciplinary research is conducted and pioneering technologies are developed.
At three renowned departments, the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Microsystems Engineering and the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering, our engineers and computer scientists contribute to solving societal and technical issues of the future in the fields of energy and environmental technology, medical technology, sustainable mobility and intelligent applications in information technology.
About 2,500 students, 55 professors and more than 600 scientific, technical and administrative staff members study, research, teach and work at the Faculty of Engineering.
The Faculty of Engineering cooperates with the five Fraunhofer Institutes and the Hahn-Schickard Institutes as well as with numerous leading companies and scientific institutions in the region, in Europe and the world.
