Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Kuhl nominated Fellow of the CZS Health+Tech Network
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Kuhl of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Freiburg has been appointed a fellow of the newly launched Carl Zeiss Foundation Health+Tech Network. The network brings together selected researchers, industry partners, and clinical experts to drive innovation in healthcare and accelerate the adoption of medical technologies.
The goal of the CZS Health+Tech Network is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge academic research and the market readiness of medical technologies. Through interdisciplinary exchange and strategic collaboration, the network aims to accelerate translational research projects and develop innovative solutions to improve patient care.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration as the Foundation for Innovation
Prof. Kuhl’s appointment also reflects the close collaboration within the University of Freiburg. In addition to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Engineering, the Neurobiological Research Laboratory at the ENT Clinic was also involved in preparing the application. This collaboration combines technical innovation with neurobiological expertise and a focus on clinical applications.
“I am very grateful for the trust the Carl Zeiss Foundation has placed in us fellows,” said Prof. Kuhl. “Special thanks go to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Engineering for its substantial support in preparing the application, as well as to the Neurobiological Research Laboratory at the ENT Clinic in Freiburg. Their creative input into the application and their commitment to future collaborative research are essential to achieving the ambitious goals of this network.”
Developing Future Technologies for Healthcare Together
With his induction into the CZS Health+Tech Network, Prof. Kuhl is embarking on a phase of intensive collaboration with other fellows and network partners. The focus is on the joint development of forward-looking health tech approaches and the transfer of knowledge between research, industry, and clinical practice. The goal is to translate scientific findings into clinical practice more efficiently and thereby contribute to the further development of medical care.
