New Dean Prof. Dr. Hannah Bast

On October 1st, 2018, Prof. Bast will become the first female Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in its 23 years history.

Prof. Bast, Chair of Algorithms and Data Structures at the Department of Computer Science, takes over the office from her precursor Prof. Dr. Oliver Paul from the Department of Microsystems Engineering.

The Faculty of Engineering consists of three departments: the Department of Computer Science (IIF), the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) and the Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering (INATECH). The Faculty was founded in 1995. It is the eleventh and youngest faculty of the University of Freiburg. 1800 students, about 50 professors and more than 450 research staff learn and work at the Faculty of Engineering to shape the future. Our graduates are highly sought-after engineers and computer scientists in business and research throughout the world.

The professorate and the staff express their gratitude to Prof. Paul for his excellent achievements over the past two years and wish Prof. Bast all the best during her term of office.
