New director at IMTEK
The Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) has been under new management since October 1, 2025. Prof. Dr. Moritz Diehl, Systems Control and Optimization, is taking over from Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Stieglitz, Biomedical Microtechnology.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Rupitsch, Electrical Instrumentation and Embedded Systems, has been appointed deputy director of the department. Together, Prof. Diehl and Prof. Rupitsch will drive forward the strategic and scientific development of the department.
The professors, staff, and students would like to express their sincere thanks to Prof. Thomas Stieglitz for his dedicated and successful leadership of the department over the past years. Under his leadership, IMTEK was able to further expand its international visibility, set new research priorities, and strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation.
Prof. Moritz Diehl, an internationally recognized expert in the fields of mathematical optimization, control engineering, and systems theory, is taking over as director of the department. His research combines theoretical foundations with industrial applications in areas such as robotics, mechatronics, and renewable energy systems.
We wish Prof. Diehl all the best in his new role as director of the department, every success, and much enjoyment in shaping the future of IMTEK.
