Prof. Anke Weidlich becomes a member of the Federal Government's Expert Commission on Energy Transition Monitoring
The Expert Commission on Energy Transition Monitoring (ExpKom) starts its work with a new line-up with an investigation of the electricity market design. Ms Weidlich is one of two new members of the Expert Commission. The holder of the Chair for Energy Distribution Technologies at the Institute for Sustainable Technical Systems (INATECH) conducts research on the topics of energy systems, decentralised energy supply, system integration, flexibility and smart grids.
In addition to accompanying the monitoring process for the energy transition, ExpKom has the task of evaluating the federal government's reviews of the coal phase-out and making recommendations in accordance with the Coal Electricity Phase-Out Act (KVBG).
Due to the currently very dynamic overall situation in the energy industry and its special energy policy challenges, the next monitoring report on the energy transition is planned for summer 2023.
ExpKom's work will now begin with an analysis of the current situation and the further development possibilities of the electricity market design with a view to the increasingly important renewable energies. The first results are expected by the end of 2022.
