Change at the Top of the Faculty of Engineering
Since 01/07/2026, the Faculty of Engineering has been under new leadership: Prof. Dr. Thomas Brox (Pattern Recognition and Image Processing, Department of Computer Science) has taken over the role of Dean from Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Balle (INATECH).
The members of the Faculty of Engineering would like to thank Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Balle for his commitment and wish Prof. Dr. Thomas Brox every success in his new role.

The Faculty of Engineering
Founded in 1995, the Faculty of Engineering brings together the fields of Computer Science, Embedded Systems Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, and Sustainable Systems Engineering. On the shared campus, interdisciplinary approaches are developed to address key future challenges in energy and environmental engineering, medical engineering, sustainable mobility, and intelligent information technology.
The faculty consists of three departments: Computer Science, Microsystems Engineering, and Sustainable Systems Engineering. Around 2,800 students and more than 600 staff members in science, engineering, and administration work together here on innovative solutions in research and teaching.
In close cooperation with Fraunhofer and Hahn-Schickard institutes as well as numerous partners from academia and industry, the faculty is strongly connected at regional, national, and international levels.
