VDI Sponsorship Award 2014

Mr. Lucas Spohn (Department of Microsystems Engineering) and Mr. Nikolaus Mayer (Department of Computer Science) were awarded the VDI Sponsorship Award 2014 by the President of the University of Freiburg Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Jochen Schiewer during the opening ceremony of the academic year 2014/15.

Lucas Spohn and Nikolaus Mayer

Mr. Spohn received the award for his bachelor thesis “A Widely Configurable, High-Range 13.56 MHz RFID Reader Including a Bidirectional Data Modem” which he performed at the Fritz Huettinger Chair of Microelectronics, Department of Microsystems Engineering.

Mr. Mayer received the award for his master thesis “Coupling ICP and Whole Image Alignment for Real-time Camera Tracking” which he performed at the Chair of Computer Vision and Image Processing, Department of Computer Science.

The VDI Sponsorship Award is endowed by the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI) – chapter “Schwarzwald e.V.” and comes with a prize money of 1000€.

The Faculty of Engineering cordially congratulates its awardees.
