ECOSENSE research project
Researchers from the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources and KIT met in Ettenheim on 11 and 12 April for a scientific exchange as part of their spring conference 2024 of the CRC 1537 - ECOSENSE.
The interdisciplinary research project has been working on the development of a new type of sensor network with the aim of investigating the effects of climate change on the forest ecosystem since the start of its funding by the German Research Foundation.
One item on the conference programme was a public presentation of the project for interested members of the public. After being welcomed by Mayor Metz, the visitors, including a biology class from Ettenheim secondary school and members of the local council, had the opportunity to look at some of the measuring instruments and have them explained to them. During the subsequent tour of the research area in the Ettenheim forest, the newly erected measuring towers could be inspected and an overview of the measuring systems already installed in the forest could be gained.
